Electric Multiple Unit 21WEag – “ELF 2”

21WEag – a three-segment electric multiple unit of the 21WEa type was manufactured for the Silesian Railways in 2017 by PESA Bydgoszcz SA.

The second-generation Elf is equipped with solutions to make travelling easier for passengers with different requirements. It has been adapted to meet the needs of people with disabilities and also has tinted windows, a diaper changing table, diaper bins, special bike holders, air conditioning, electrical sockets, a closed-circuit vacuum toilet and energy-efficient LED lighting. In the new ‘Elf 2’ train, there is a lockable space for the train manager, with, among other things, a built-in microphone for making announcements for the passengers and a monitor for viewing the internal cameras. In addition, ‘Elf 2’ has an intercom to ensure communication between the passengers and the driver. The vehicle is also equipped with a special ‘parking’ system as well as ETCS control and GSM-R communication equipment.

A visual and audible passenger information system is installed in the ‘Elf 2’ to inform the passengers about the route.
