Koleje Śląskie – 15 years
On 8 April 2010, the memorandum of association of Koleje Śląskie – the first non-state-owned passenger rail operator in the Silesian Voivodeship since 1884 – was signed.
We operate 21 regular and 4 seasonal railway lines in the Silesian Voivodeship. We move nearly 22 million passengers a year.

2010, 8 April
Signing of the founding act of Koleje Śląskie, the first non-state-owned railway passenger operator in the Silesian Province since 1884
2011, 1 October
Start of transport operations on the following lines: Gliwice – Częstochowa (daily) and Częstochowa – Wisła Głębce (on weekends)
2012, 9 December
As a result of the decision of the statutory rail transport organiser, taking over the operation of passenger rail traffic in the Śląskie Province
2013, 1 June
Implementation of the recovery programme – reduction in the number of routes by almost 40% compared to the original plans
2015, 13 December
Start of cross-border services to Bohumin and Český Těšín
2016, 29 February
Signing of the lease agreement for the former depot of the regional transport company Przewozy Regionalne in Katowice at Raciborska Street for the company’s headquarters. In 2019. The company became the owner of the depot
2016, 18 October
Signing of the contract for the delivery of Elf II electric multiple units (two-, three- and four-segment)
2017, 23 September
Farewell to the oldest electric multiple unit of the EN57 (022) series, manufactured in 1962, took place on the Katowice – Ornontowice – Katowice route, on lines not used in regular passenger traffic
2017, 23 December
First regular trip of the ‘Ornak’ train from Katowice to Zakopane
2018, 31 October
An integrated offer, combined with public transport, called ‘Universal Sub-regional Rybnik-Wodzisław Ticket’ was introduced together with the local governments of Rybnik and Wodzisław, and ‘Katowice Ticket’ – together with the local government of Katowice
2018, 9 December
The route Gliwice – Rybnik – Wisła Głębce was opened – this was the first regular train to drive through Knurów in 18 years and the start of similar activities in subsequent years in other areas of the province (including Tychy – Orzesze Jaskowice and Tarnowskie Góry – Pyrzowice Lotnisko – Zawiercie).
2019, 12 September
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the First Silesian Uprising, one of the Silesian Railway’s trains (EN76-009) received a commemorative graphic featuring leading representatives of Silesian history, such as Wojciech Korfanty, Józef Rymer and Alfons Zgrzebniok
2020,10-11 October
Under the motto ‘Full steam toward the future’, journeys by vintage trains were organised to mark the 10th anniversary of the company’s foundation

The first fast train of the Silesian Railways reached Kraków under the brand “Gibki Cug”

The Silesian Railways was the first railway operator in Poland to be awarded the Single Safety Certificate
