Rules for the carriage of bicycles on Silesian Railways trains.

The Silesian Railway has a space limit system for the carriage of bicycles on its trains.

The fee for the carriage of bicycles on Silesian Railways trains is:

• single ticket – PLN 8.40;
• monthly network pass – PLN 84.90.

• Each Silesian Railway train has only a certain number of bicycle spaces.
• It is only possible to carry a bicycle if a bicycle space is available.

Carriage of bicycles on connecting routes

• If the journey requires a change and continuation on another Silesian Railway train, a ticket for a bicycle can only be purchased if seats are available on all sections of the route..

Change of a train and carriage of bicycles

• If the dedicated rolling stock for this connection changes to a smaller one (with fewer bicycle spaces), the train crew may refuse to carry the bicycle, despite the reservation.
• In such a situation, the passenger should receive a certificate that allows a refund for the unused ticket.

Monthly network passes for the carriage of bicycles

• Every passenger with a monthly pass for the carriage of a bicycle must report to the train crew before the travel.
• The train crew registers the carriage and issues a Registration Certificate for the carriage of the bicycle.
• The monthly pass does not guarantee a place for carrying a bicycle – the decision on the possibility of carrying a bicycle is taken by the train crew on the specific train.
• If no places are available for a bicycle, the train crew may refuse to allow a bicycle to be transported despite the passenger having a ticket for its carriage.

Buying a bicycle ticket on the train

• If a passenger boards a train with a bicycle without a ticket, the he or she must report to the train crew.
• The fee for issuing a ticket on the train applies only if:
  • a check-in desk was open at the station;
  • there was a ticket vending machine at the station, with the option of paying for the ticket in cash.

• If the passenger holds a ticket for the carriage of a bicycle issued for another carrier (including a Common Ticket), he or she must report to the train crew and obtain confirmation of the registration of the bicycle carriage.

Important information!

When travelling with a bicycle, the passenger should report to the train crew, who will verify if it is possible to carry bicycles with a view to maintaining safety and order in the carriage.

Travelling with a bicycle on Silesian Railways trains

• For a fee, the passenger may carry one unfolded and unpackaged bicycle, provided that the passenger has a ticket for its carriage on the train.
• Carriage of bicycles on Silesian Railways trains is subject to a space limit system. Only as many bicycles as the number of spaces suitable for their carriage can be carried on Silesian Railways trains.
• When purchasing a ticket for the carriage of a bicycle, the passenger specifies the route and indicates the train(s) on which he or she will travel. Travel with a bicycle can only take place on trains whose numbers are indicated on the ticket held.
• When carrying a bicycle on several interconnecting sections, a ticket is issued only on the condition that space is available to carry the bicycle on each segment.
• The carriage of bicycles on Silesian Railways trains must not cause difficulty to other passengers, endanger third parties or their property, or cause pollution or damage to the carriage.
• Bicycles should be carried on board the train in the segment designed for the carriage of bicycles or in a designated space for passengers with large hand luggage.
• The bike should be carried under the supervision of the passenger.
• The carriage of bicycles is allowed on Substitute Bus Service (SBS) buses provided that a space is available on the vehicle.

For travelling with a bicycle, the passenger is obliged to pay the travel fare and the bicycle fare in accordance with the Price list (C-KŚ) – Section IV of the Fare (TP-KŚ).

In case of refusal to pay for the carriage of a bicycle, the train crew will charge an additional fee for violation of the regulations on carriage of items specified in the above-mentioned Price list (C-KŚ), Chapter 9 – Additional charges.

For the carriage of a bicycle against payment, the following ticket types are issued:

• a single ticket for the carriage of a bicycle under the care of the passenger – jointly or for the ticket for the journey shown. The bicycle ticket is valid with the ticket for the journey for which it is issued;
• a monthly network pass for the carriage of a bicycle under the care of the passenger – valid on trains operated by the Silesian Railways – issued to the person who intends to carry the bicycle. The holder of a monthly network pass for the carriage of a bicycle is obliged to report to the train crew before each journey in order to obtain permission for the carriage of the bicycle. Once this has been obtained, the train crew will issue a ‘Confirmation of registration of bicycle carriage’.

One folded and packed bicycle can be transported free of charge. Children’s bicycles (two- or three-wheeled) and rehabilitation tricycles carried by a person with a disability or reduced mobility are also exempt from payment.
